Building an Azure Virtual Desktop
Environment for Organizational
Migration

About the Client

The client, an organization with approximately 25 users, needed to migrate their existing on-premise Remote Desktop environment to Azure Virtual Desktop. They sought to modernize their infrastructure by leveraging AzureAD (Entra) connectivity, Microsoft 365 integration, and cloud-based storage solutions to enhance productivity and user experience.

The Challenges

The organization’s on-premise Remote Desktop environment was outdated and inefficient, leading to performance and connectivity issues. They required a scalable and modern solution that would support up to 12 concurrent users while ensuring seamless integration with Microsoft 365 applications. Key challenges included:

  • User Authentication: Ensuring secure and streamlined login using AzureAD (Entra) credentials.
  • User Profile Management: Retaining user profiles across sessions using FSLogix for user profile disks.
  • Data Storage: Integrating Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for primary data storage, while also exploring options for shared drive space through Azure.
  • Scalability: Allowing for the addition of virtual machines (VMs) as needed.
