Optimizing Memory and CPU Allocation
for Multi-Instance Virtual Environment

About the Client

The client, an IT consultant, needed an efficient virtualized setup to run several Windows 10 instances. While Metaorange Digital initially provided consultancy for the general setup, the client soon faced issues related to memory and CPU overutilization, which impacted system stability. Our team was engaged to diagnose and optimize resource allocation, ensuring smooth operation even with multiple virtual machines (VMs) running simultaneously.

The Challenges

After the initial setup, the client experienced slow performance and frequent system lags when running more than two Windows 10 instances concurrently. These issues were primarily due to inadequate memory and CPU allocation, as well as a lack of optimization in VirtualBox’s resource handling settings. The challenge was to improve the overall stability and responsiveness of the virtual machines without overloading the host system.
